Glenfiddich
Glenfiddich is one of the best-known names in Scotch whisky. Sometimes positioned alongside The Glenlivet. Glenfiddich was established by William Grant in 1876, with the first spirit running off the stills in 1887. The Speyside distillery recently doubled its production capacity to meet demand, as the core line-up continues to be incredibly popular around the world. Ranges in age from 12 to 18 years old. The Glenfiddich team, led by malt master Brian Kinsman, has some tricks up its sleeve, like using whisky from a solera barrel that is never completely empty for its 15-year-old expression.
The name Glenfiddich derives from the Scottish Gaelic Gleann Fhiodhaich meaning "valley of the deer", which is reflected in Glenfiddich's stag logo. The water source for Glenfiddich Whisky is The Robbie Dhu springs nearby to the distillery. Glenfiddich was the favourite whisky of fictional detective Inspector Morse, as well as his creator Colin Dexter.
