Johnnie Walker Blue Label 70cl
€200.00 inc. VAT
First introduced in 1992, Johnnie Walker Blue Label has sustained for over 40 years its status as one of the world’s premier luxury scotch brands. A traditional blended scotch whisky inside luxury sophisticated packaging with deep smoke and richness, but also has fresh, fruity vibrancy, with sweet creaminess.
The Scotch Whisky market in the early 90s was vastly different than the one we know today. It was virtually unheard of to drop that amount of money on a bottle of spirit that wasn’t XO Cognac. Blue Label hit shelves as the first ever ultra-premium offering in the Johnnie Walker portfolio. It quickly became a ‘90s status symbol, as iconic as Cohiba cigars or Rolex timepieces.
Nose with honey, cedar and dried berry fruit, the marmalade-hued liquid deploys an unlikely union of toffee and camp-fire smoke on the tongue, before returning to honey and wood spice in a gentle finish. A circle story told through aroma and flavour—and a consistent one at that. Smooth, with just the faintest whisper of smoke. It has certain sweetness with some notes of honey and chocolate that persist into the finish.
Aged for a minimum of three years, however reports have suggested that the blend also contains whiskies anywhere between 28 and 60 years in maturity. Only one out of every 10,000 of the Johnnie Walker barrel inventory is deemed worthy of inclusion and contains an unusually high amount of malt component. A typical expression within the Blended Scotch category carries less than 50% worth of malt whiskies, whereas some experts speculate that Blue Label might hold as much as 80% (never confirmed by the distillery or master blender Emma Walker).
Truly a super blended scotch sipper!
