Paddy Irish Whiskey 70cl

Made from unique blend of Triple Distilled grain, straight pot-still malt and pot-still barley malt Irish whiskeys in Cork. The result of three classic Irish approaches to whiskey distillation. Paddy Irish Whiskey dates back to 1779 and owes its name to legendary salesman Paddy (Patrick Joseph) O’Flaherty of the county of Cork, Ireland. He was adored because he was generous, charismatic, and the life of the party. Paddy sold whiskey from pub to pub, sharing free rounds and espousing the quality of his triple-distilled spirits to everyone he met. Pity nobody reading this is ever likely to have met him. In 1913, after his retirement, the distillery named this blend of triple distilled grain, malt, and pot still whiskey in his honour. Today, in the whiskey that bears his name, the spirit of Paddy lives on. Light, well balanced and pure, with subtle flavours that Paddy himself would no doubt be proud of. Dry and cereal-forward with notes of hay bales, especially the baling twine, and a little wet clay. A touch of vanilla and a subtle oily sweetness if you nose deep enough in the glass. The palate is clean and light with a nice, honeyed sweetness. The finish is medium length but marches to a similar, simple flavour drum, with the same even, gentle heat from sip to swallow with consistent notes of sweet grain and a touch of maltiness that almost evokes cocoa powder. About as straightforward and approachable an Irish whiskey as you’re likely to find.
