Pusser`s Gunpowder Proof Rum is made after exact classified blend obtained form the Royal Admiralty in 1979, few years after the over 3 centuries old tradition of issuing daily ration of rum to Brittish Royal Navy sailors was abolished. The ship`s Purser or `Pusser` , as he was, called was mixing some gunpowder with the rum to see if it would burn, proving that daily rum `tot` given was not watered down – the rum was at ` proof`.
