Casa Dragones: The Art of Exceptional Tequila
Born from a passion for craftsmanship and innovation, Casa Dragones is an independent, small-batch tequila producer dedicated to redefining Mexico’s most iconic spirit. Founded in 2008 by Bertha González Nieves, the first female Maestra Tequilera, Casa Dragones blends time-honoured traditions with modern expertise to create a tequila of unparalleled smoothness and character.
A Land Steeped in Heritage
Casa Dragones takes inspiration from San Miguel de Allende, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich history and artistic soul. The brand’s name honours the legendary Dragones cavalry, an elite battalion that played a crucial role in Mexico’s fight for independence. Like the Dragones, the tequilas embody courage, refinement, and a spirit of innovation.
This tequila originates in the lowlands of Jalisco, where mineral-rich, volcanic soil nurtures some of the finest blue agave in the world. Grown for nearly a decade under the intense Mexican sun, each agave plant develops the complexity and depth that define Casa Dragones’ signature taste. The agave fields are located within the Eje Volcánico Transversal (Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt) in Tequila, Jalisco, a chain of active and inactive volcanoes across Mexico. Here, the combination of soil, climate and altitude produces the ideal agave plants to create the signature taste of Tequila Casa Dragones.
Uncompromising Craftsmanship
Casa Dragones stands apart through an unwavering commitment to quality. Unlike mass-produced tequilas, each batch is meticulously crafted using a modern, sustainable approach. The proprietary production method preserves the purity of the agave while eliminating harshness, resulting in a tequila that is exceptionally smooth and refined. Each crystal bottle of Casa Dragones Joven is engraved by hand using the traditional Mexican technique of “pepita.” Literally translated, pepita means “small seed.” The tradition first began in Spain and was brought to Mexico in the 1500s when Rodrigo de Espinoza opened Mexico’s first glass factory in Puebla. Each bottle of Casa Dragones Joven is hand engraved by one of the few Mexican artisans skilled at this magnificent technique. From the crystal-clear Joven, a rare blend of silver and extra-aged tequila, to the ultra-smooth Blanco and the rich, oak-kissed Tequila Añejo, Casa Dragones offers a collection that redefines what tequila can be.
A Taste of True Individuality
These tequilas are more than a spirit, they are an experience. Preferred by top chefs, sommeliers, and tequila connoisseurs, it is crafted to be savoured slowly, allowing its refined character to shine. Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in an elegant cocktail, each expression is designed to highlight the purity and complexity of the agave. For each batch the natural spring water from underground aquifers. The water gathers essential minerals from the volcano’s rich soil and is then put through a state-of-the- art purification process to harmonize perfectly with the tequila.
Sustainability
Casa Dragones believe in shaping the tequila industry for the future through modern and sustainable production. The process is recognized by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) as the most efficient and sustainable in the tequila industry, using less water, less energy and producing less waste than many other processes. The Dragones tequila also uses less agaves per liter than older, traditional methods.
For those who seek excellence in every detail, Casa Dragones is not just a tequila—it’s a statement. A tribute to heritage, a masterpiece of craftsmanship, and a toast to the extraordinary. One can also take a look at Los Arango and Sierra Tequila.
