The Maltese, and expats too, do love St. Patrick’s day. This beloved celebration transcends geographical boundaries.

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated annually on March 17th. This year on a Monday. Originally commemorating St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, known for bringing Christianity to the Irish people in the fifth century; over the centuries the day has transformed into a vibrant, worldwide celebration of Irish culture, heritage, and identity.
In Malta, St. Patrick’s Day has grown significantly in popularity because of Malta’s strong connections with Ireland. Maltese celebrations uniquely blend Irish traditions with Mediterranean charm, making the occasion memorable for both locals and visitors alike.
Usually blessed with reasonable weather in Malta the celebrations in Malta typically include parades, festive street parties, live music featuring traditional Irish bands, and gatherings in pubs across popular areas such as St Julian’s, Sliema, and Valletta. Warning : Green attire is practically mandatory! Some Maltese landmarks often join the festivities by illuminating in green to honour the day.
